A summer class to remember: Wheaton College visits Tanka headquarters

Gene Green, a professor of New Testament at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, brought his class by recently to hear Tanka Bar's story. I met with Professor Green about two months ago and he was very interested in what the Tanka Bar is and how we run as a business.

I showed him around and he thought the tour would be perfect for his class. He had five sophomore and junior students with him and another chaperone. They were all well-mannered and had plenty of questions.

After the tour they told me little more about the class and what they were doing on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The class was a two-week course and they took the grand tour of the reservation visiting Oglala Lakota College, KILI Radio, Lakota Funds and local schools. They also sat in on a tribal meeting at the Tribal Building in Pine Ridge.

I am glad to have given this tour with a wonderful group of people and can't wait for their return visit back here next year.
