Blue Skies over Red Shirt

Blue Skies over Red Shirt
This photo was taken this spring at Red Shirt Table on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
The blue sky highlights the rugged land named for Oglala Lakota Chief Red Shirt.

A peace-chief, Red Shirt participated in 1870 and 1880 at two delegations in Washington. He officially became a chief in 1878 at Pine Ridge Agency.

Tanka friend Brian Brandt took this photo during one of his frequent visits to our headquarters.
