Bull bison against the South Dakota sky

Bull bison against the South Dakota sky
This majestic bull bison stands out against a brilliant blue sky in the Sage Creek Wilderness area of Badlands National Park, near Interior, SD. Badlands National Park borders the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, home of our Tanka Headquarters.

The 64,000-acre Sage Creek Wilderness offers challenging backcountry hiking along buffalo trails. In addition to herds of bison, hikers and backpackers can also see antelope, deer and a host of other wildlife.

Many thanks to our good Tanka friend Brian Brandt for this great photo.
