Iditarod musher Jodi Bailey is racing to make history
buffaloJodi Bailey, a big supporter of Tanka Bar, has almost completed the over 1,150-mile Iditarod Great Sled Race. We have been tracking her progress on iditarod.com and via Facebook friend Tim Looney. Jodi just completed the 1,000-mile Yukon Quest last month and placed seventh.

This will make Jodi the first musher to complete both races in the same year as a rookie. Yesterday she was racing neck-and-neck with another musher, battling for second place in the "Rookie Race," he said.

"Jodi is currently listed in 32 place, out of a field of 62, 14 of which have scratched, including five rookies," Tim said. "She still has 13 dogs in harness, which is good for this late in the race. Running steady and solid is what she and Dan [Jodi's partner] do -- their Dew Claw Kennel is know for finishing fast and strong."

The Alaska Daily News wrote a story on Jodi stating that, "Never before has a rookie finished both sled dog marathons back to back -- a demanding schedule that's gained some popularity since four-time defending Iditarod champion Lance Mackey delivered back-to-back victories in 2007 and 2008."

Stay tuned for the final numbers.
