Heid Erdrich, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of the Ojibwe people, wrote a new book called Original Local: Indigenous Foods Stories and Recipes from the Upper Midwest, which the Tell Me More staff at National Public Radio calls, "Part cookbook, part memoir and part meditation on the interplay of tradition and fusion in American cooking."

NPR guest host Celeste Headlee interviewed Ms. Edrich recently about the book, which happens to feature a recipe for Tanka Bite Bread. Our friends with the Tanka Fund caught up with the author at a book signing in Minneapolis, MN, and shot the above photo of Erdrich holding up the book along with some Slow Smoked Original Tanka Bites.

Stay tuned for a future interview with Ms. Erdrich on this site.
