It has been some time since I was nervous doing a tour of the Tanka Bar headquarters. I had no clue we were going to be filmed, but S.A.G.E. (Studies Abroad for Global Education) didn't want to miss a thing. They also received a sweet treat of getting some of our Tanka Apple Orange Peel Sticks that I passed out. After the tour, Tanka CEO Karlene Hunter talked about microfinancing with the students.
Shelley Kawamura is the host for the S.A.G.E. program and her husband and son drove up from Denver, CO, to accompany her on the trip. They also met up with the other instructors at the airport in Rapid City, SD, and each had five students joining them for the journey. The students were mostly high-school seniors but we also had a few college students.
Among their group were: Abi Basch, MFA, AB Instructor of Social Studies from Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, located in San Francisco, CA, and Biba Kavass, teacher at Southwind High School in Memphis, TN, and Founder of Microfinance in Action.
Thanks for making us one of your first stops and we hope you all had a great and wonderful time here in South Dakota.
