Women Empowering Women for Indian Nations honors Tanka CEO with Lifetime Achievement Award

Karlene Hunter, Native American Natural Foods CEO and co-founder, was honored this week by Women Empowering Women for Indian Nations at their 10th annual WEWIN Conference in Las Vegas. The organization works to provide knowledge, support and resources to native women in order to achieve success in their personal and professional lives.

Ms. Hunter is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and has spent more than 25 years working on educational and economic development on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She launched Native American Natural Foods with business partner Mark Tilsen in 2007 to produce Tanka Bars, a bison and cranberry protein bar.

"I accepted the award on behalf of all Native women across the nation who are working to improve their communities," Ms. Hunter said. "It was a great honor and WEWIN is a wonderfully supportive organization that's helping shape our next generation of women Native leaders."
